Electronics Recycling

The City of Rochelle and RMU are excited to announce new Electronics Recycling programs in our community. There are now two ways to dispose of electronics in Rochelle since, as of January 1, electronics are no longer accepted in landfills. There will be no cost to residents utilizing these new programs.

Electronic devices may be delivered to the RMU Water Department Lab located at 888 Treatment Plant Road between the hours of 9:30AM-2:30PM Monday thru Friday. Note that the facility is closed on major holidays. Acceptable items for drop-off include: televisions, monitors, printers, computers, fax machines, keyboards, electronic mice, VCRs, portable digital music players, video game consoles, small scale servers, scanners, digital converter boxes, cable and satellite receivers, and DVD players. Cell phones and laptop computers may be dropped off at City Hall and the RMU Customer Service Center.

Curbside pickup is now available for console televisions and central processing units (CPUs). Curbside pickup will run concurrently with Appliance Recycling on the third Saturday of each month. To utilize the program, pick up a sticker for your device at the RMU Customer Service Center, City Hall, or the Building Department. A printable sticker may be obtained by calling the RMU Customer Service Center at 815-562-4155 or City Hall at 562-6161.

Commercial and industrial businesses are welcome to use this program by calling ahead to confirm that the item is acceptable and to determine cost.
