Railroad Advisory Board Created

Since it's inception in the mid 1980's, the City of Rochelle Railroad (CIR) has been an important tool in attracting businesses to our community. Several industries have chosen to locate in Rochelle due to the dual rail shipping options available through the CIR. The growth in the southeastern industrial sector over the past several years has prompted multiple extensions to the CIR resulting in over 3500 rail cars served in 2009. An additional extension is also planned on the west side of our community to serve the Nippon Sharyo facility.

Please Shovel Around Fire Hydrants

The Rochelle Fire Department and RMU Water Operators ask that you please shovel the snow piled on and around the fire hydrants in the parkways near your homes. Water Operators are cleaning around the hydrants that are located at the schools, hospital and nursing homes, but we need your help.

Snow covered hydrants could cause problems if the fire department needs to gain access due to a fire. The hydrants in Rochelle are painted red, but many are under cover due to the heavy amount of snow. Please take a little extra time to expose your fire hydrants in case of an emergency!
