In 2008 Detective John Kaltenbach spear headed the "No Boundaries" trip, in which he takes a group of area kids to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota, which runs along the Canadian border. The trip was made possibe with donations from area buisnesses and individuals. Due to the overwhelming success of the first trip, making the second trip possible was a bit easier.
For 2009 things would be a bit different though, instead of taking at risk youth, it was decided to team up with the Rochelle Township High School to take students who wished to take part in the trip, and in turn showed good behavior and turned in good grades. With the help of RTHS councilors a list of student names was compiled and from there seven students were selected to participate in the trip. Helping Detective Kaltenbach this year was Officer Dave Christopherson, who is also an avid outdoorsman.

Here the members are taken out to the drop point.

Staying dry was not an option.

Just one of several fish caught during the trip.

For some it was their first real outdoors adventure.

Fishing was always good.
