| ROCHELLE, IL – Downtown Rochelle will be bustling with activity on the evening of Friday December Fourth while the Downtown Christmas Walk takes place! Bring your family downtown for a fun evening with activities for all ages! The excitement begins on the front lawn of City Hall at 5:00 as the Mayor and Santa light the Community Christmas Tree.
The Flagg Township Museum will decorate a special place for Santa Claus to meet your children and hear their wishes for Christmas. There is no charge to enter the museum for this special occasion. Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa and parents don’t forget your cameras!
Head over to Lincoln Highway where streets will be closed from the corner of Lincoln Highway and 5th Avenue to the South end of the RMU parking lot. Complimentary carriage rides begin at 6:00 with pickup and drop off in the RMU Parking Lot. The Lioness Club will be serving hot chocolate!
The downtown merchants along with Flagg Township Museum, Downtown Rochelle Association, and the Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce & Business Development would like to invite you to join us as we light up the downtown with Christmas cheer. Follow the illustrated ABC Christmas poem written by lifelong Rochelle resident Josephine Biggers in 1965 from lighted window to window. You will find your Christmas poem journey beginning with AB and C at Moore’s True Value. Travel north on Lincoln Highway and when you reach Security Finance Corp, cross to Hub City Furniture and travel south until you reach Fashion Nails for XY and Z. Pick up a Treasure Hunt and Passport along the way to for a special prize when you complete your journey!
All ages are invited to warm up at the Hub City Senior Center with a chili and pie supper from 5-7! The cost is just $5 per person or $3 for chili-to-go. You’ll enjoy live Christmas music by Wally & The Good Tyme Ramblers and handcrafted items such as rice heating pads for holiday gift giving. Order your tickets now by calling 562-5050. The Fourth Annual Christmas Tree Festival is open at City Hall from 5:00 to 7:00, with bidding coming to a close at 7:00 sharp. You’ll be able to find the perfect gift or decoration for your home at the Festival! All proceeds from the silent auction of table-top Christmas trees and gift baskets benefit Ogle County Hospice.
Come to the library between 6:15 and 8:15 and enjoy stories by the Christmas tree read by area celebrities, crafts, treats and fun. This is a night designed for the whole family. All ages are welcome!
The Hub Theater is offering a free showing of the Polar Express at 7:30. Kids are invited to come to the movies in their pajamas and may even receive a surprise during the show!
