| ROCHELLE, IL… The City of Rochelle is pleased to announce that
Edward Carr has been hired to serve in the capacity of General Manager, responsible for the business operations of Rochelle Municipal Utilities and reporting to the City Manager. Mr. Carr will officially join the City on Monday, April 12, 2010.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work with such a dedicated team of professionals,” said Carr. “I believe that my skills and past experience, as well as my desire to make a difference, will allow me to assist with the continued success of Rochelle Municipal Utilities and the Community”.
Carr, age 56, holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Western International University in Phoenix, Arizona. He brings over 20 years of public utilities design and project management experience with him, including multiple years with the Salt River Project in Phoenix, the nation’s 3rd largest public power and water utility. Carr’s breadth of management experience not only covers commercial, industrial and residential power distribution systems, but also includes working with construction coordinators, developers, and a focus on maintaining public relations.
Mr. Carr was a member of the Arizona Army National Guard, retiring in 2004. While serving with the National Guard, he attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major, one of nine in the state of Arizona. “I am excited to welcome Ed to our team, and believe that he has the vision and commitment to continue to move our utilities forward,” said Ken Alberts, Rochelle City Manager.
Carr and his wife Lois plan to move to Rochelle in the near future. They are excited about the rural “small town” atmosphere Rochelle has to offer, yet conveniently located near urban areas such as Rockford and Chicago. In addition, the geography of Northern Illinois provides an excellent setting to pursue their favorite pastimes of hiking, biking, and snowmobiling.
