10th Avenue and 2nd Street Intersection Closure September 1st through the 8th , 2015

City Engineer, Sam Tesreau, has announced that 10th Ave, from 2nd Street to 3rd Street and the 2nd Street/10th Avenue intersection will be closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday September 1st at 7 am. The closure is necessary to construct new sanitary sewer main, laterals, and manholes along with associated pavement restoration. Martin and Company, the City of Rochelle’s contractor, will be performing the work.

There will be no access to May School, School Avenue, or the Rochelle Community hospital facilities through this intersection for the duration of the project. May School and the Rochelle Middle School will be accessible from 2nd Street via McConaughy Avenue and School Avenue. Rochelle Community Hospital facilities will be accessible from 3rd Street or 2nd Street via 8th Avenue. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area if possible.

All other through traffic will be detoured as follows:
Northbound through traffic will be detoured from 2nd Street, west along 8th Avenue to 3rd Street, north along 3rd Street to McConaughy Avenue, east on McConaughy Avenue to 2nd Street.
Southbound through traffic will be detoured from 2nd Street, west along McConaughy Avenue to 3rd Street, south along 3rd Street to 8th Avenue, east along 8th Avenue to 2nd Street. Work is expected to be complete by September 9th and is subject to weather.

Advance warning, detour and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the affected area. Please use caution while traveling in this area and pay special attention to the advanced warning signage, road closed signage and other temporary traffic control devices within or in advance of the work zone.
