City Engineer, Sam Tesreau, has announced that 20th Street, south of Squires
Landing Avenue to 8th Avenue and east along 8th Avenue approximately 300 feet,
will be closed to through traffic beginning July 18 at 7am in order to perform
roadway widening, shoulder and pavement reconstruction, and other associated
restoration work in the area. It is expected the roadway construction will be
completed by August 16. There may be times when traffic will be allowed to use
this section after 4pm until the following morning at 7am when it will be closed
again. City Engineering and Street Department staffs, contractors and other utility
companies are currently in the area doing staking, utility marking and other
preparations for the project. The west access drive to Cooper Park, off of 20th
Street, will be closed during the construction. Residents and motorist are reminded
to pay special attention to the advance warning signage, posted detour routes,
road closed barricades and other temporary traffic control devices within the work
zone.
