Enjoy our 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival on Saturday, May 2 from 4-10pm at the Gazebo in Downtown Rochelle! We will have live music, great food and drinks and even a Chihuahua race!
Kick off the Cinco de Mayo festival by moving for a great cause with our first ever Cinco-K, a fun 5K walk and run sponsored by the City of Rochelle and HOPE of Ogle County. The run begins at the Bike Path behind the First Presbyterian Church. You may sign in and pick up your festive T shirt starting at noon and the race begins at 1pm. T-shirts and water bottles are provided compliments of Rochelle Foods and First National Bank. All proceeds from the Cinco-K benefit HOPE of Ogle County.
Traditional Mexican food will be served by Tacos al Pastor#1, Perez Supermarket, Lupita Supermarket, Off the Wall Café and El Sol. New to the event this year, Tecalitlan will serve cold beverages including margaritas and cantaritos.
Our Chihuahuas will parade at 4:30 for a “Best Dressed” contest and photo op and will begin racing at 4:45. Local band, San Guillermo takes the stage at 5:00. Enjoy performances by Ballet Neuva Imagen, the RTHS Jazz Band, Tamborazo Salinas and Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal.
The Cinco de Mayo festival is a family-friendly event with many of our local children performing on stage and displaying school work.
