City Engineer, Sam Tesreau, has announced that 9th Street, from 1st Avenue north to Lincoln Avenue, will be closed to through traffic beginning Thursday April 28th at 7 am.
The closure is necessary to construct new supplementary safety measures for the Rochelle Railroad Quiet Zone project including concrete curb medians, storm sewer improvements and associated pavement removal and replacement. Martin and Company, the City of Rochelle’s contractor, will be performing the work.
There will be limited access to Rochelle Railroad Park, via 9th Street, for the duration of the project. However, private residential driveways located north of the UP Railroad and south of the BNSF Railroad along 9th Street, will be accessible throughout the day. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area if possible.
All other through traffic will need to use other available north south crossings along Main Street or Washington Street.
Work is expected to be substantially complete by 4 pm on May 10th and is subject to weather. Advance warning, detour and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the affected area. Please use caution while traveling in this area and pay special attention to the advanced warning signage, road closed signage and other temporary traffic control devices within or in advance of the work zone. We appreciate your patience during this project.
