City Engineer, Sam Tesreau, has announced that Caron Road, from Wiscold Drive to Timber Lane, east of the BNSF RR will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday September 2nd at 7 am. The closure is necessary to reconstruct and repave the intersection and roadway approaches at Caron and Steam Plant Roads. Martin and Company, the City of Rochelle’s contractor, will be performing the work. There will be no access to Caron Road or Steam Plant through this intersection during the duration of the project.
Wiscold Drive will be accessible from Caron Road (north of Wiscold Drive). Timber Lane will be accessible from Caron Road (south of Timber Lane). Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area if possible.
All other through traffic will be detoured as follows:
Northbound through traffic will be detoured from Steward Road/Main Street, north along Main Street to 1st Avenue, east along 1st Avenue to Caron Road. Southbound through traffic will be detoured from 1st Avenue/Caron Road, west along 1st Avenue to Main Street, south along Main Street to Steward Road, east along Steward Road to Caron Road. Work is expected to be complete by September 5th and is subject to weather.
Advance warning, detour and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the affected area. Please use caution while traveling in this area and pay special attention to the advanced warning signage, road closed signage and other temporary traffic control devices within or in advance of the work zone.
