ROCHELLE, IL – The City of Rochelle is excited to announce the addition of Chicagoland Skydiving Center (CSC) to the Rochelle Municipal Airport – Koritz Field.
At the Special City Council Meeting on March 21, the Rochelle City Council voted to approve a special use permit and a twenty year lease agreement with Chicagoland Skydiving Center. In addition to skydiving, CSC has plans to bring several new additions to the airport including a restaurant and viewing area, welcome center, a new aircraft hangar, and an RV and camping site.
Chicagoland Skydiving Center Owner Doug Smith says, “Skydiving has proven to be a growing trend even in economic downturns. We are excited to be bringing our operations to the City of Rochelle.” In 2010, CSC made 39,212 jumps and used almost 50,000 gallons of Jet A fuel. These statistics only mean good things to come for the Rochelle Municipal Airport. The number of flights in and out of the Airport has direct correlation with the amount of federal funding allocated and the Airport will see a significant jump in fuel sales.
The Rochelle Municipal Airport is proud to offer these services to enhance the quality of our airport operations and generate additional traffic, making the airport a very valuable asset to the City of Rochelle.
