Cinco de Mayo Festival – May 7

Rochelle, IL – Enjoy our 3rd Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival on Saturday, May 7 from 4-10pm at the Gazebo in Downtown Rochelle! We will have live music, delicious authentic Mexican food and drinks and even a Chihuahua race!

Kick off the Cinco de Mayo festival by moving for a great cause with the Cinco-K, a fun 5K walk and run sponsored by the City of Rochelle and HOPE of Ogle County. Registration is available now at

Local groups including Hub Project, ELLOS Scholarship, Rochelle Community Hospital, and more will be in attendance to share information on their organizations. LULAC is hosting a salsa tasting contest.

Traditional Mexican food will be served by Tacos al Pastor#1, Lupita’s Supermarket, Off the Wall Café and El Sol. Tecalitlan will serve cold beverages including margaritas and cantaritos.

Our Chihuahuas will parade at 4:20 for a “Best Dressed” contest and photo op followed by the race! Enjoy performances by Ballet Nueva Imagen, the RTHS Jazz Band, Just for Kix and Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal. Children will have a chance to participate in arts & crafts and even piñatas! Several contests will be open to visitors including dance and el grito. Los Compas del Terre will take the stage at 8:30.

The Cinco de Mayo festival is a family-friendly event with many of our local children performing on stage and displaying school work. The event is sponsored by the City of Rochelle and Rochelle Elementary District #231.
