The Rochelle City Council voted Monday evening to hire Jeff Fiegenschuh (pronounced faygen-shoo) as our new City Manager. Mr. Fiegenschuh will officially join the Rochelle team on Monday September 11.
Rochelle’s newest hire comes from the Village of Rantoul, Illinois (population 12,815) most recently and before that spent time in Princeton, Illinois & Windsor Heights, Iowa. He has experience in downtown façade and streetscape projects and well as significant experience in management of a municipal utility.
“I was impressed by the Mayor, City Council and Staff while interviewing for the position in Rochelle,” said Fiegenschuh. “I love the access to transportation, everything happening with the utilities, the overall progressive attitude and focus on the Downtown. I see a lot of opportunity to work with the Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Rochelle Association.”
Fiegenschuh conducted his undergraduate studies at Wayne State College focusing on Political Science and obtained his Masters in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska – Omaha. He has attended the Senior Executive Institute through the University of Virginia and is a Credentialed City Manager with the International City Manager’s Association.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jeff to Rochelle next month. His energy and excitement will be an excellent addition to our staff,” said Mayor Olson.
Spending time outdoors including hiking and kayaking are among Mr. Fiegenschuh’s hobbies. He enjoys travel and physical fitness and is an avid sports fan. He has three children: Courtney, Abigail and Carter.
