The Rochelle City Council is pleased to announce that David Plyman has been unanimously selected as the next City Manager. Under the direction of the Mayor and City Council, Plyman will be responsible for the daily operations of the City. Mr. Plyman will join the City in early June with an official start date to be determined.
“I am excited to join Team Rochelle and look forward to working together to achieve the community’s priorities,” said Plyman. “Rochelle is very appealing because its leaders are willing to explore new possibilities and invest in the future. The City’s involvement in internet communication technologies and the technology park are just the latest examples of this trait,” Plyman added. “Rochelle’s significant and diverse industrial and commercial tax base is due, in large part, to the community’s vision and desire to create a better future for itself.” Mr. Plyman holds a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University. He brings over 24 years of public administration experience with him, including several years as a City Administrator. Plyman’s municipal management experience includes infrastructure improvements, growth management, negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the facilitation of development projects and downtown renovation. Plyman, his wife Joann and their three children plan to move to Rochelle in the near future. They are excited about the “small town” atmosphere Rochelle has to offer and look forward to participating in community activities. In addition, Mr. Plyman plans to join a local civic club and continue a favorite pastime through the local amateur radio club.
