Community Beautification Reminders

As spring is upon us, the City of Rochelle would like to remind property owners, including owners of rental property or vacant lots, that local ordinances require lawn maintenance.  Any grass or weeds exceeding eight inches in height are considered a nuisance and will be cited by the City of Rochelle’s property maintenance inspector.  The City of Rochelle is proud to take a proactive approach in keeping our community clean and well-maintained.

At this time of year, the City receives a large number of complaints regarding such lawn maintenance.  Once the property is viewed by staff, a citation will be issued.  Compliance with the citation is requested within seven days.  Failure to comply can result in a court appearance and fines.

With household remodeling projects on the horizon, the City of Rochelle reminds residents to obtain the proper building permits when planning for a roof, siding, shed, fence or other construction project.  To keep our community beautiful, fences, sheds, garages and decks must be kept in good condition and any debris or inoperable vehicles must be removed from the premises.
