The Community Development Department consists of building, zoning, and property maintenance, keeping the City of Rochelle growing in an organized fashion.
The Building Division maintains all permits for projects within the City of Rochelle. Permits are required for all additions, modifications, and improvements. Permits are issued per the City Code approved by the City Council.
The Planning and Zoning Division is in charge of the project management of zoning, current planning, and long-range planning. They also review and process requests for variances, re-zoning, right-of-way vacations, and conditional use permits. The division also reviews subdivision plats and site plans.
The Property Maintenance Division keeps our community looking beautiful. Our Property Maintenance Inspector is responsible for ensuring signage rules are adhered to, lawns are maintained, and unlicensed inoperable vehicles are not kept on the property. All of these practices maintain our property values.
