City Manager David Plyman is pleased to announce his appointment of Jason Bird as the Superintendent of Rochelle Municipal Utilities’ Electric Department. Bird comes to Rochelle after serving the City of Princeton, Illinois as its Superintendent of Electric and Telecommunications since 2007.
Bird will officially join the City of Rochelle on August 17. “I am excited about the opportunity to join Team Rochelle,” Bird said. “I am looking forward to being a part of such a dedicated team of professionals. I believe that my skills and past experiences will help Rochelle continue to grow,” he continued.
Bird, 51, has served the City of Princeton for over 30 years in its Electric Department. He began his career in Princeton as an Apprentice Lineman in 1985. In addition, he previously held the position Superintendent of Electric Distribution. Under his supervision, the Princeton Electric Department has earned the prestigious Safety Award – First Place from the American Public Power Association for the past nine years. The APPA has also awarded Princeton its RP3-Diamond Level Award.
Prior to his linesman apprenticeship, Mr. Bird attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. He is a long-time resident of Princeton. He has coached wrestling and soccer at Princeton High School for 29 years. He is married to Susan and has three sons and two granddaughters.
