The Illinois Department of Transportation announces today that weather permitting, construction work on Creston Road overpass will begin on April 8, 2019. Sjostrom & Sons, Inc. will be completing the $1,721,200 bridge repair project carrying Creston Road over I-39 near Rochelle. Nightly lane closures on I-39 northbound and southbound between IL Route 38 and I-88 will be utilized. This will be followed by barrier wall lane closures in each direction until the completion of median crossovers. This work is in preparation for the closure of Creston Road. Additional traffic pattern information will be supplied as timeframes are secured. Work is expected to be completed by August 15, 2019. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
