Medical Equipment Recycling and Distribution Opportunity in Rochelle
The Community Conservation/Recycling Committee will conduct a LIMITED recycling event on Thur. Nov. 15th – America Recycles Day from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the old 1st National Bank parking lot on Lincoln Highway (north of the Masonic Temple and west of Fehr-Graham). Donations of working wheelchairs with foot pads, wheeled walkers with seats, crutches, canes, and supportive devices for legs, feet and arms will be accepted. Clean slings, braces, wrist supports, etc. are welcome.
Due to storage limits, only 15 wheelchairs, walkers, and pairs of crutches will be accepted. Devices will be given to individuals through several social agencies and medical offices in our community. Many individuals without medical insurance, on Medicaid or Medicare lack medical insurance to cover such devices.
Recycled items will be accepted from 2-5:00 p.m. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., those needing these devices can complete paperwork to receive a needed device. The remainder will be distributed to social agencies in the community. We anticipate repeating this type of collection periodically in the community. For questions, call Diane McNeilly at 562-5769.
