Police, Fire, EMS Implement Safety Measures

Emergency service providers in the Hub City are taking extra measures to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

When calling 911 or the non-emergency line at the Rochelle Police Department, Dispatchers will ask additional questions to gauge the health of those the staff will encounter. Upon arrival, Rochelle Fire Department staff may be seen wearing personal protective equipment including goggles, masks and gowns when responding to requests for emergency services. These precautionary safety measures will ensure the safety of our first responders in the coming months.

Non-emergency calls to the Rochelle Police Department may be responded to via phone report to minimize contact among individuals and to maintain social distancing recommendations. The lobby at the Police Department remains open 24/7.

We encourage our residents to obtain factual information through the Ogle County Health Department, Illinois Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control. Take measures to protect yourself including exercising hand-washing, avoiding touching your face and maintaining social distance recommendations.

The City of Rochelle prioritizes the health and safety of our residents and employees above all else. We also understand that our residents and businesses count on a high level of service and support from our team. Emergency services will continue as always from our Police, Fire, Emergency Medical, Electric and Water Departments. Our Mayor, City Council, City Manager and Staff are continually in communication with one another as we realize this is an unprecedented and fluid situation.
