New Well and Elevated Water Storage Tank
The City of Rochelle, Illinois recently began construction of a new drinking water well, known as Well 12, and a 750,000 gallon elevated water storage tank. The improvements are located on Hayes Road and include a well building, well pump and nearly 6,000 feet of water main. Financing for this project was provided by a low interest State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s Public Water Supply
Loan Program (PWSLP). The PWSLP is funded by both state and federal sources. The $4,300,000 loan has an interest rate of 1.86% and will be repaid over 20 years. Once complete, the infrastructure will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in Rochelle as well as increase water storage. The PWSLP operates in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
