Beginning the first week of April, 2012, S. 3rd Street will be periodically closed to through traffic from Ave G to Ave H and Ave H from S Main Street to 2nd street for the street reconstruction and urbanization project. The project will be complete in mid-July 2012.
Rochelle City council approved the South 3rd Street and Avenue H Reconstruction project on November 14, 2011. City Engineer, Sam Tesreau, has announced the construction schedule for Reconstruction project. City Engineering staff, Northern Illinois Service Contractors and other utility companies are currently in the area doing staking, utility marking and relocation. Residents are reminded that limited parking will be available along the street during the construction process and are encouraged to use the alley access where available. No parking signs will be placed in advance of work expected to be completed on a weekly basis. Residents and motorist should pay special attention to the advance warning and other temporary traffic control devices within the work zone.
This exciting project will give an urbanized look to an area with a need for infrastructure improvement. Streets will be re-paved with curb, gutter, and storm sewer enhancements. Sidewalks and accessibility ramps will also be installed. Funding for this project comes from motor fuel tax and other non-MFT funds. We sincerely appreciate the cooperation and patience of local residents during the construction of this important infrastructure improvement.
