School Avenue Closure Begins April 30

City Engineer, Sam Tesreau, has announced that School Ave, east of Meadow Lane to Parkview Drive and north along Turkington Terrace approximately 100 feet, will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday April 30th at 7am in order to perform utility relocations, roadway and bridge reconstruction, and other associated work in the area. It is expected the roadway construction will be substantially completed by the end of August 2014. City Engineering and Street Department staff, consultants, contractors and other utility companies are currently in the area doing staking, utility marking and other preparations and for the project.

The west access drive to the May School staff parking lot will remain open until June 6th. Alternate pedestrian detour routes will be posted while the bridge and sidewalk are out of service. There will be limited use of the parking area located south of School Ave and immediately west of the Kyte River during the duration of the project. All other motorists are to use other local roads to access the adjacent areas within this project area. Residents, pedestrians and motorist are reminded to pay special attention to the advance warning signage, posted detour routes, road closed barricades and other temporary traffic control devices within the work zone.
