The Rochelle Chamber of Commerce and the City of Rochelle hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking to formally announce the Start of construction of a new Love’s Travel Stop at I-88 & Illinois Route 251. The 11,000 Square-foot facility will also feature a Hardee’s Restaurant for locals and travelers to enjoy and bring approximately 60-70 new jobs to the area.
“Rochelle will be a great location for us because of its proximity along Interstate 88 between Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington”, said Rick Shuffield, Vice President of Real Estate for Love’s. He added, “We are also in a great position to serve customers going to and from the Rochelle Municipal Airport located at the same exit”.
The store will offer fountain drinks, fresh coffee, name-brand snacks, drinks, travel merchandise, electronics accessories, showers, laundry facilities, and more. Professional truck drivers can take advantage of a Love’s Truck Tire Care facility and 95 truck parking spaces. The travel stop expects to open in spring 2019.
“The extension of utilities, installation of traffic signals, intersection improvements, and the widening of Steward Road will open the area to additional commercial and retail opportunities and bring mobility and restaurant services to the south side of Rochelle, said Peggy Friday, City of Rochelle Commercial & Retail Development Coordinator and Executive Director of the Rochelle Chamber. “We appreciate the investment Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores is making in our community.
